When we last met tweenie Greg Heffley (Zachary Gordon), he was enduring the miseries of adolescence at his new school. Now he faces an even bigger challenge: being nice to nasty big brother Rodrick (Devon Bostick). Mum Susan (Rachael Harris) has decided to deal with their constant arguments by offering them cash to get along.

To help them bond, she and dad Frank (Steve Zahn) go away for the weekend, leaving Rodrick in charge. Naturally, he throws a huge house party and locks Greg in the basement. Adapted from the second of Jeff Kinney's bestselling novels, the sequel builds on all the elements that made the first film such a huge success. A lovably flawed anti-hero, a cruel sense of fun, and an insightful if light-hearted approach to the traumas of growing up make this a must-see for anyone who's ever been a kid.
