The amazing true story of the bond between a boy and an injured dolphin.

When a young dolphin gets caught in a crab trap, introverted 11-year-old Sawyer Nelson (Nathan Gamble) rescues her. But there's a problem. She has severely damaged her tail. Taken to the Clearwater Marine Hospital run by Dr Clay Haskett (Harry Connick Jr), her prognosis is bleak. But Sawyer is not prepared to give up on his new friend so easily. He presents Dr. Ken McCarthy (Morgan Freeman) with the challenge of creating a pioneering prosthetic attachment for the dolphin, now named Winter, which will restore her ability to swim.

Featuring stunning underwater footage, 'Dolphin Tale' co-stars Ashley Judd as troubled Sawyer's single mother Lorraine, and veteran Kris Kristoffersen as Dr. Haskett's father, Reed. It was filmed in part at the real Clearwater Marine Hospital, where Winter the dolphin was cast as herself!
