Handsome thirty-something Brandon (Michael Fassbender) leads a successful corporate existence in Manhattan. But beneath his outwardly confident and businesslike exterior lies a jaded sex addict with an insatiable appetite for women and pornography. With the arrival of his younger sister Sissy (Carey Mulligan), an aspiring jazz singer who self-harms, Brandon's carefully managed facade is challenged - and his dark secret life starts to spiral out of control.

Uncompromising but beautifully crafted, 'Shame' is 'Hunger' director Steve McQueen's second collaboration with Michael Fassbender, who confirms his promise as one of our most versatile actors. Carey Mulligan gives a bravely vulnerable performance as Sissy, including a memorable scene where she croons the jazz standard 'New York, New York'.
