Prosperous Hawaiian estate agent Matt King (George Clooney) has never been the world's most attentive father. But when his wife Elizabeth is left in a coma following a tragic speedboat accident, Matt is forced to re-evaluate his life and his relationship with his two daughters. Alexandra (Shailene Woodley) is a wayward 17-year-old with a stoner boyfriend, Sid (Nick Krause).
Her little sister Scottie (Amara Miller) is a precocious 10-year-old. Naturally, sparks begin to fly when clueless Matt starts to assume the dad role. Then Alexandra drops another bombshell - before the accident, Elizabeth was having an affair. So with daughters in tow, Matt embarks on an eventful mission to track down his wife's lover. Adapted from the highly regarded novel by Kaui Hart Hemmings, this is director Alexander Payne's eagerly anticipated first film as director since the Oscar-winning 'Sideways' in 2004.
