Sean Anderson (Josh Hutcherson), the intrepid young adventurer from the 2008 hit 'Journey to the Centre of the Earth', is back! This time he's tracking a distress signal that appears to be coming from a remote island. Trouble is, it's in the most dangerous part of the ocean. And according to the maps, no island exists there. He believes the signal could be from his grandfather (Michael Caine), who's spent a lifetime trying to locate Jules Verne's Mysterious Island. Unable to prevent him from going, Sean's new stepfather Hank Parsons (Dwayne Johnson) reluctantly decides to join him.

Together they recruit a pilot (Luis Guzman) and set off in his dilapidated helicopter along with his strong-willed daughter (Vanessa Hudgens). After surviving a storm at sea, the trio crash-land on an unbelievable island filled with terrifying creatures, volcanic eruptions and untold dange
