Transition Town Worthing

Transition Town Worthing (TTW), the project which is exploring life beyond oil dependency in the town invites you to consider Worthing over the next twenty years. The challenges we face in the first few decades of the 21st century include peak oil production and a decline in available energy, global warming, rising sea levels and economic upheaval. How can we, as a local community, respond?

TTW is based on four recognitions:

Life with less energy is inevitable and it is better to plan for it than be taken by surprise

We have lost the resilience to be able to cope with energy shocks

We have to act for ourselves and we have to act now

By unleashing the collective genius of the community we can design ways of living that are more enriching, satisfying and connected than the present.

TTW has created a Timeline at the Heene Gallery in Worthing which runs from 2010 to 2030. All local residents are invited to add their thoughts and ideas year by year to vision a transition to a more resilient future. The aim is to develop an action plan for energy descent in Worthing.

We will be unveiling the timeline on 26th June (3pm) at the Heene Gallery.
