Transition Town Worthing

The Worthing Garden Share Project

Rate this Entry
As we are all aware, there is a real shortage of land for Worthing residents to grow their own produce. Allotments in the town currently have aorund 400 people on the waiting list. The chances of growing food and reconnecting with the soil, seasons and building resilience and food security are reduced by this mis-match.

We need to act for ourselves and we need to act now!

What if we could address this mis-match of people and land through the growing TTW community? Connecting potential growers/gardeners with unused/under-used gardens would be a grass-roots solution to this problem, with the chance of forging new friendships and community links at the same time.

The Worthing Garden Share Project enables this to happen. We have had our first 'match' now in central Worthing and we're now inviting interest from Worthing residents to set up more garden share in the town.

I'd interested to hear your views on this project . . .
